For the past six years, Kelly Rutherford has spent her entire fortune trying to get custody of the two children she had with her ex-husband Daniel Giersch. She estimates she has spent about $2M in legal expenses and travel expenses to see her two children who live in Monaco and to fight for their return to the US. Earlier this year a California judge ruled she could have temporary sole custody until a final decision was reached in her case. A judge in Monaco ordered they could live with Kelly until the case was decided. It has now been decided and the children will have to remain with their father in Monaco. Kelly has tried absolutely every legal option available to her. I sometimes wonder if she will try and keep her kids here in the US when they are scheduled to go back to Europe. It honestly would not shock me. The problem for her if she did that is she would never have the chance again to obtain custody.
