Jared Fogle’s defense team was hoping for 5 years in jail and the prosecutors were hoping for 12.5 years. The judge deciding the fate of the former Subway spokesperson had a different number in mind. She sentenced Fogle to 188 months in prison on each count. He is allowed to serve them concurrently. He will not be eligible for parole until about 2028. He faces lifetime supervised release after he gets out of jail. Fogle, who pleaded guilty cannot appeal the sentence except for the 3 extra years the judge handed him.
During the hearing, the judge heard that Fogle has already paid $1.4M in restitution to 10 victims and that he gave his wife $7M in their divorce. Fogle’s attorneys actually argued that he should get less than 5 years because he was not trying to create or make child porn, but was just watching it. I’m glad the judge threw the book at him. The guy was having phone sex with 9 year old kids. He would never have stopped doing what he was doing. He was spending $1000 a month on sex with hookers. Yes, Charlie Sheen spends that every hour. Not the point.
The guy had sex with minors and bragged about it to everyone. He deserves every single day in that jail cell.
